Melicope ptelefolia

Tenggek burung (Melicope ptelefolia) is a well-known bioresource in Malaysia, which has a great potential to be marketed worldwide as Malaysia's "Local Superfood". However, as yet there is no nutraceutical product made from M. ptelefolia available in the market. Prior studies described M. ptelefolia to have anti-allergic properties which is particularly related to one of its chemical markers, 2,4,6-trihydroxy-3-geranyl acetophenone (tHGA). Through a collaborative research effort, we set out to produce a standardized M. ptelefolia extract as a high-value nutraceutical ingredient for skin allergic inflammation.
